Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP will return to Thunderbird Raceway on June 10.

Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP made a dramatic appearance at Thunderbird Raceway last year.  Before a packed grandstand, SOD put on an exciting, crowd-pleasing show that left spectators begging for more.  They will now get their wish with this announcement.

Long-time racer/promoter Tom Sprague purchased Thunderbird Raceway in 2015 and reopened it last year, saying it was an important moment for local racing fans after the 50-year-old track was closed for three years.  Sprague has turned more than a few laps at Thunderbird Raceway himself.

On Friday, August 4^th, for the first time since July 18, 1999, Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP will be racing at the Manistee County Fairgrounds in Onekama, Michigan.

Since SOD’s last race at the Manistee County Fairgrounds, auto racing at the Northern Michigan ½ mile oval has been off and on, but a recently renewed interest in bringing auto racing back to the fairgrounds has resulted in the Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP beyond limits sprint cars returning to the speedway during the community’s 2017 Onekama Days.

Onekama Days include a wide range of activities on the first full weekend of August, most of them occurring at the Manistee County Fairgrounds. Butler Speedway is the birthplace of sprint car racing in Michigan.  Sprints On Dirt, leads all regional sprint car racing sanctioning bodies as the most progressive, innovative body in the nation.  The partnership of these two leaders presents racers and fans alike a great opportunity to be part of a new, exciting mini-series.

The first race  of the Driven Racing Oil Battlegrounds Bash will be on Saturday, June 17, the first Michigan International Speedway 2017 NASCAR weekend; the second race will be on Saturday, July 22, the MIS Faster Horses Festival weekend; and the Battleground Bash Championship will be on Saturday, August 12, the MIS final NASCAR weekend.

The series will pay a five-place point fund for the three races, and the Driven Racing Oil Battlegrounds Bash champion will have a guaranteed starting spot in the Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP Mike Olrich Memorial Race at Crystal Motor Speedway on September 2.

Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is pleased to announce the return of the popular MAHLE/Clevite Beyond Limits Challenge for 2017!  The challenge offers SOD competitors the opportunity to compete in a mini-championship within the Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP full season series.

The 2017 MAHLE/Clevite Beyond Limits Challenge will consist of five races held at five different speedways in Michigan.  Tracks and dates will be announced at a later date.

A separate MAHLE/Clevite Beyond Limits Challenge point fund will be paid out.  In addition, the champion will be guaranteed a starting spot in the SOD season finale Mike Olrich Memorial Race at Crystal Motor Speedway on September 2nd.

Hartford Speedway will be the center of attention for the Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP four-race 2017 King of Michigan series.  The King of Michigan, as a single race, had long been a SOD tradition before 2016.  Now the KoM series returns bigger and better with heightened excitement about the newly reconfigured 3/8 mile track and the expanded schedule.  The 2017 KoM Champion will be crowned at the series finale on September 1.
