Points for the Co-Sanctioned Weekend

Just a note to Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP competitors for the upcoming co-sanctioned weekend.

Points in this weekend’s events in the same manner that has been done over the past several years. Only ASCS SOD members or drivers that have competed in previous SOD events this season will receive points. Meaning, the top finishing SOD driver will be awarded 150 points, the second highest 142 and so on regardless of finishing position. For example, if only four SOD drivers make the “A” Main, the first non-quaifying SOD driver receives 5th place points (125) and so on.

A driver must take the green flag in his/her “B” Main to receive feature points. Not taking the green flag will result in 65 points. If no green flag is taken at all during the night, 50 points.

Daggett Takes ASCS SOD Honors at Hartford

By Mike Strevel

HARTFORD, Mich. (May 20, 2011) – On a warm Friday night at Hartford Motor Speedway, Dustin Daggett took the checkered flag for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP main event at the big half-mile speedway.

An excellent field of 21 winged sprint cars made the first of two appearances at Hartford. They will return on September 9.

Daggett of Portland, MI, started in fourth position for the 25-lap main event. There were only a handful of yellow flags including three early in the main event. An incredible battle developed mid-race when 2010 champion Ryan Grubaugh passed Daggett only to be quickly passed back by the eventual winner.

The feature winner in his Maxim chassis was able to capture the $1,200 first prize in exciting fashion after that challenge. Several battles developed throughout the field with Gregg Dalman, Aaron Shaffer, Jason Blonde and Trey Smith all swapping positions in the later stages of the feature.

Daggett stated, “I just love running at these big go-fast tracks, I’m looking forward to coming back in September.” The winning driver took his eighth win in the last nine events at Hartford Motor Speedway. The winner of the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP feature thanked his fine sponsors including Miles Petroleum, Sweet Manufacturing, Glen’s Gas & Welding, Steve Winnie Auto Sales and Richardson Farms.

The top five finishers of the feature race for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP were Daggett, Grubaugh, Dalman, Shaffer and Blonde.

Heat race wins were captured by Joe Bares, Jared Horstman and Shaffer. The fast car dash went to Dalman.

ASCS Sprints on Dirt at Hartford this Friday!

By Lonnie Wheatley
TULSA, Okla. (May 16, 2011) – After a soggy weekend in Michigan, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP are set to return to action this Friday night at Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, MI.

Friday’s card marks the first of two scheduled ASCS SOD events atop the high-banked, ½-mile Hartford Motor Speedway clay oval for 2011.

Dustin Daggett is out to the early lead in the ASCS Sprints on Dirt title chase with his season opening win on April 30 over his father Mike Daggett, with Gregg Dalman, defending series champion Ryan Grubaugh and two-time series champion Brett Mann rounding out the current top five.

The balance of the current top ten includes Jared Horstman, Tim Champlin, Ryan Ruhl, Gary Fast and Joe Bares.

Daggett has had something of a stranglehold on Hartford Speedway Park victory lane in recent times with seven wins in eight ASCS SOD events contested atop the ½-mile oval over the past four years. Only a Brett Mann triumph in the 2009 edition of the King of Michigan event has broken up Daggett’s Hartford perfection.

Friday’s action at Hartford Motor Speedway fires off at 8:00 p.m.

Hartford Motor Speedway is located in Hartford, MI, off I-94 Exit 46, then 1.3 miles north on Center Street, then four blocks west on Prospect Street. For more information, contact the track at 269-621-4482.

The 32nd year of competition for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP consists of 27 scheduled nights of action at 13 different tracks throughout Michigan, Ohio and Ontario.
