Butler Motor Speedway and Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP, have teamed up for three races in 2017.  The first Butler Motor Speedway Sprints On Dirt race will be on June 17th during the first Michigan International Speedway NASCAR weekend, followed by the second race on July 22nd.  The last SOD race will be the 2nd day of the Butler Bash on August 12, during the second MIS NASCAR weekend.

Butler Motor Speedway, recognized as the birthplace of sprint car racing in Michigan, has been where many of the state’s top sprint car drivers started their careers.  Coldwater, Union City, Litchfield and surrounding towns have been home to many sprint car standouts.  None are better known than legendary driver Denny Donaldson who will be into his twenty-first year as owner of Butler Speedway in 2017.

Donaldson and promoter partners Bob and Karen Garrett are continuing the speedway’s rich history as the home of weekly sprint car racing in Michigan, and Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP is excited to again partner with the speedway in 2017.

Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt by ARP returns to Merritt Speedway in 2017

Merritt Speedway and Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP will once again join for two races in 2017.  The always popular jewel of the North will host SOD on June 24th and August 19th.

2016 Sprints On Dirt Champion Brian Smith found the racy speedway to his liking last season, winning on June 18th.  The race put an exclamation point on the engine equality created by the new SOD unlimited format with Thomas Schinderle and Dan McCarron finishing second and third with 305 cubic inch engines.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature came out on top in the August 20th rained out SOD show.

The Merritt Speedway team is working hard to show that the track is “Michigan’s Premier Dirt Track.”  The track’s front stretch grandstands have been removed and several of the sections will be relocated for 2017. New aluminum bleachers will go up in the spring and be ready for opening night. A new Musco lighting system is already partially up, with the several thousand pound bases all set in the ground.

A new Merritt Speedway website, www.merrittspeedwaymi.com, is under construction and scheduled for completion in January.  You can get all the latest Merritt Speedway news on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MerrittSpeedwayMI.

Hartford Speedway & Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt by ARP team up for 4 in 2017

Hartford Speedway, Hartford, Michigan, and Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP have reached an agreement for four races in 2017.

Sprints On Dirt enjoys tremendous interest at Hartford Speedway. The Hartford Speedway Facebook page noted that: “…our fans love SOD and have proved to be our best crowd turnouts 3 seasons in a row.”

Hartford Speedway and Sprints On Dirt are finalizing details regarding the four-race schedule; additional information will be released at a later date.

The historic Western Michigan speedway has underground a major reconfiguration. The track was turned from a 1/2 into a nonsymmetrical 3/8 that should prove to be challenging and fast. It will maintain its 100’-120’ width. To get this accomplished, the former turns three and four of the 1/2 mile were moved toward turns one and two. The track is not at finish grade or race ready yet, but it will have some banking, although not as much as the old 3 and 4 turns. Track owner/promoter Tim Dibble said: “High banking and symmetrical track equals foot to the floor racing and that’s not what we are going for in this change.” Dibble’s approach blends perfectly with SOD’s beyond limits format to make driver skill a bigger factor.

Baer Field Motorsports Park inaugural dirt race to feature Sprints On Dirt

baer-1-4-fb-link

Baer Field Motorsports Park officials announced today that Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP will headline the inaugural race on the new 1/4 mile dirt track under construction within the infield of the track’s current 3/8-mile pavement oval.

The 1/4 mile track adds numerous new possibilities to the existing 3/8 mile paved oval and 1/6 mile dirt track.  A small, specials-only schedule will be announced in the coming weeks for the new track.

It takes a lot of work to construct and operate a new dirt track, but promoter Dave Muzzillo is up to the task.  He has the background and experience of track management and operation with the existing tracks; he also has knowledge of dirt track preparation with the 1/6 mile track.

The race will give Northeastern Indiana race fans an opportunity to see the popular Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP series in their own area.  The new Sprints On Dirt “beyond limits” format of no engine limits and no weight limits was impressive last year .  Competitors and fans alike have embraced the exciting racing it has created.  The top five drivers in 2016 points came from five different segments of sprint car racing the year before, showing the wide spread appeal of SOD.

For more information regarding 2017 schedules for all the tracks located at BFMP, visit the website www.baerfieldmotorpark.com and the Baer Field Motorsports Park Facebook page.
