TULSA, Okla. (August 22, 2011) – After a Canadian weekend that turned soggy on the second night, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP return to Michigan action this weekend.
The ASCS SOD forces are set to take to the semi-banked, ¼-mile Owendale Speedway dirt oval for the final time of 2011 this Saturday night. The event also marks the sixth in eight rounds of MAHLE/Clevite Short Track Challenge action.
With six wins on the season Portland, MI, native Dustin Daggett holds healthy 120-point lead over Goshen, Indiana’s Brett Mann in the SOD points chase, with Robert Huisken (Marne, MI), Ryan Ruhl (Angola, IN) and Davey Brown (Eaton Rapids, MI) rounding out the current top five in points.
The balance of the current top ten includes Ryan Grubaugh (St. Johns, MI), Jim Lingar (South Bend, IN), Matt Lumbert (Dowling, MI), Joe Bares (Traverse City, MI) and Marques Huffer (Eagle, MI).
Mann, a two-time series champion, picked off one of his two series wins this season in the previous stop at Owendale on July 9. Mann also swept victory lane at both Owendale events in 2009 before Gregg Dalman and Dain Naida split Owendale wins last year.
Saturday’s ASCS SOD action at Owendale Speedway is set to get under way at 7:30 p.m.

The 32nd year of competition for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP consists of 27 scheduled nights of action at 13 different tracks throughout Michigan, Ohio and Ontario.
The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
