ASCS Sprints on Dirt Set for Labor Day Weekend Double!

TULSA, Okla. (August 22, 2011) – The dirt in Michigan will be flying as the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP take to a pair of tracks for some Labor Day weekend action.

The ASCS Sprints on Dirt kicks off the weekend on Friday night at Rothbury’s Winston Speedway before moving on to Crystal Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

With six SOD wins this season to run his career series’ best total to 82, Dustin Daggett holds the current series points lead with a 137-point advantage over fellow two-time series champion Brett Mann.

Robert Huisken has climbed to third in points, with Ryan Ruhl and Davey Brown rounding out the top five. The rest of the top ten includes Jim Lingar, Matt Lumbert, Ryan Grubaugh, Marques Huffer and Andy Teunessen.

Friday marks the second stop of the year at Winston Speedway, where Daggett picked off his sixth win of the season in July. Daggett became the sixth different winner in the last six SOD events at Winston with others including Dain Naida (2010), Gregg Dalman (2009), Mann (2008), Ben Rutan (2007) and Gary Fast (2006).

Saturday is the third and final stop of the year at Crystal Motor Speedway. Daggett scored his ninth consecutive Crystal win in the SOD season opener on May 1 before Mann reached Crystal victory lane on July 17.

Friday’s ASCS SOD action at Winston Speedway fires off at 7:15 p.m., with Saturday’s green flag at Crystal Motor Speedway flying at 7:30 p.m.

The 32nd year of competition for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP consists of 27 scheduled nights of action at 13 different tracks throughout Michigan, Ohio and Ontario.

The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.

Naida Knocks Down ASCS SOD Win at Owendale

OWENDALE, Mich. (August 27, 2011) – In front of a capacity crowd at Owendale Speedway, Dain Naida took the checkered flag in the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP main event at the racy 1/4 mile oval.

A field of 21 winged sprint cars made the second appearance for the 2011 season at the fast Michigan oval.

Naida, from Tecumseh, MI, started on the pole and lead all 25 laps of the caution-free main event. A battle developed several times in the race when Dustin Daggett and Ryan Ruhl made several attempts to pass Naida,only to have each attempt halted by excellent defensive driving by the feature winner. The veteran racer was able to capture the $1,200 first prize in exciting fashion after those challenges.

Naida stated, “It’s great getting into victory lane again putting on a show for these great fans, this is a real shot in the arm for our team!” The winner of the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP feature thanked his sponsors including Ohsweken Speedway and car owners Miles Hill and Glenn Styres.

The top ten finishers of the feature race for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt Presented by ARP were Naida, Daggett, Ruhl, Gregg Dalman, Brett Mann, Jared Horstman, Andy Chehowski, Troy Chehowski, Gary Fast and Davey Brown.

Heat race wins were captured by Fast, Horstman and Ryan Ruhl. The fast car dash went to Troy Chehowski.

ASCS Sprints on Dirt at Owendale this Saturday!

TULSA, Okla. (August 22, 2011) – After a Canadian weekend that turned soggy on the second night, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP return to Michigan action this weekend.

The ASCS SOD forces are set to take to the semi-banked, ¼-mile Owendale Speedway dirt oval for the final time of 2011 this Saturday night. The event also marks the sixth in eight rounds of MAHLE/Clevite Short Track Challenge action.

With six wins on the season Portland, MI, native Dustin Daggett holds healthy 120-point lead over Goshen, Indiana’s Brett Mann in the SOD points chase, with Robert Huisken (Marne, MI), Ryan Ruhl (Angola, IN) and Davey Brown (Eaton Rapids, MI) rounding out the current top five in points.

The balance of the current top ten includes Ryan Grubaugh (St. Johns, MI), Jim Lingar (South Bend, IN), Matt Lumbert (Dowling, MI), Joe Bares (Traverse City, MI) and Marques Huffer (Eagle, MI).

Mann, a two-time series champion, picked off one of his two series wins this season in the previous stop at Owendale on July 9. Mann also swept victory lane at both Owendale events in 2009 before Gregg Dalman and Dain Naida split Owendale wins last year.

Saturday’s ASCS SOD action at Owendale Speedway is set to get under way at 7:30 p.m.

ASCS SOD Saturated at South Buxton

Saturday night’s fourth and final round of the Northern Summer Nationals at South Buxton Raceway for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP fell victim to rain.

The ASCS Sprints on Dirt series returns to action next Saturday night, August 27, at Michigan’s Owendale Speedway.

Collard Claims Northern Summer Nationals Win at Ohsweken!

OHSWEKEN, Ont. (August 19, 2011) – Jamie Collard captured his first career Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP feature win by topping Round Three of the Northern Summer Nationals on Friday night at Ohsweken Speedway.

The fifth different leader of the 25-lap feature event, Collard took the lead away from multi-time Patriot champ Bryan Howland on the white flag lap to snare the win.

Collard beat Howland to the stripe, with current ASCS Sprints on Dirt point leader Dustin Daggett, Kyle Patrick and two-time ASCS SOD champ Brett Mann rounding out the top five.
