ASCS Sprints on Dirt Rained Out at South Buxton

From South Buxton Raceway
A mid-afternoon downburst has forced the cancellation of tonight’s ASCS Sprints on Dirt racing program at South Buxton Raceway.

Things were looking promising as only light sprinkles were falling until heavy rain hit the track after 3 p.m.

Track officials made the call to cancel the program at 3:30 p.m. as the outburst will make it impossible to get the track ready for racing.

There is no word if the Sprints On Dirt show will be rescheduled.

Next Saturday will be the Country 92.9 Night At The Races.

ASCS Sprints on Dirt Return to South Buxton

By T.J. Buffenbarger

TULSA, Okla. (August 18, 2010) – The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP makes their second and final appearance of the 2010 season Saturday at South Buxton Raceway near Merlin, Ontario Canada. Saturday’s event at South Buxton also marks the second of three trips to Canada this season for the ASCS SOD teams.

Ryan Grubaugh leads the point standings coming off a feature win last Saturday at Butler Motor Speedway, the first powered by his new Roush/Yates Ford engine. Gregg Dalman looks to close back in on Grubaugh for the lead after a crash at I-96 Speedway two weeks ago opened up Grubaugh’s lead in the point standings. Despite a disastrous weekend two weeks ago that saw Grubaugh finish last for missing the scales and Cherry and engine problems at Kokomo Speedway his point lead over Dalman is 64 points.

Just four points separate the battle for third is close between Ben Rutan and Dain Naida. After destroying a car at Cherry, Rutan has scored three top five finishes to move ahead of Naida in the standings.

The Grandstands at South Buxton open at 5:30 with racing at 7:00 p.m. EST.

The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is in its 31st season of competition. Twenty-seven races are on the calendar scheduled throughout Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Ontario.

The American Sprint Car Series, in its 19th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to nearly 100 different tracks throughout 25 states and Canada in 2010. Anchored by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series, ASCS also consists of several different regions throughout the nation.

On the 10th circuit Jerrod Horstman was closing on on Mann but was not able to get around him.
