ASCS SOD Championship Comes Down to Season Finale at I-96

TULSA, Okla. (September 20, 2010) – After 23 nights of racing in three states and two countries the 2010 Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP championship comes down to the final event Saturday night at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan. As an added twist the I-96 event will be the first appearance for the ASCS Sprints on Dirt on the newly reconfigured 3/8-mile oval track.

Both Grubaugh and Dalman are looking to win their first points championship with the ASCS SOD series. Currently Grubaugh holds an eight point lead over Dalman going into Saturday’s event at I-96 Speedway. Dalman has consistently gained points on Grubaugh during the final races of the 2010 season while Grubaugh looks to hold onto his lead.

Other post race honors that are still up for grabs include the JE/SRP Pass Master award given to the driver that advances the most positions from their original starting spot during feature events. Currently Dain Naida holds a seven point advantage over Grubaugh going into Saturday’s even at I-96.

While the Pass Master award is still in doubt several other post season awards have already been determined. Gavin Hunyady from Fenton, Michigan has secured the rookie of the year award for the 2010 season. Hunyady, a graduate from the pavement modified ranks, has greatly improved over his first full season with the ASCS Sprints on Dirt and sets his sights now on moving into a top five point position with a strong run at I-96.

Dustin Daggett, the most recent feature winner at I-96 Speedway in ASCS Sprints on Dirt competition, clinched the Total Seal Fast Car Dash presented by Gaerte Engines standings two weeks ago at Crystal Motor Speedway.

The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is in its 31st season of competition. Twenty-seven races are on the calendar scheduled throughout Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Ontario.

The American Sprint Car Series, in its 19th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to nearly 100 different tracks throughout 25 states and Canada in 2010. Anchored by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series, ASCS also consists of several different regions throughout the nation.
